Nigerian union leader in Saudi urges support for Buhari

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union in Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Umar Hadeja has said that Nigeria can overcome its present challenges if the citizens rally around the government.

Speaking on Saturday at a dinner organised by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON ) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Hadeja said every Nigerian must be ready to contribute his quota for the country to make the needed progress.

He said the current situation required all citizens to put politics aside, and support the present administration’s efforts to revamp the economy.

“We must forget politics and rally round President Muhammadu Buhari to assist the government in implementing programmes that will see us out of our present problems,’’ Hadeja said.

He lamented the falling value of our currency, recalling that the Naira, which used to exchange for more than six Saudi Riyals, now exchanges at N1.8 to a Riyal.

The union chairman also called for fervent prayers for continuous peace in the country and commended the military’s effort of restoring peace in the North East.

Hadeja said the union would continue to contribute its quota to the development of the country and assured that Nigerians living in Saudi Arabia would continue to uphold the good image of Nigeria in their dealings.

Earlier, the Chairman, NAHCON, Alhaji AbdullahI Mohammed called for continuous prayers for the peace and economic progress of the nation.

He thanked President Buhari for his support to the success recorded by the commission during this year’s pilgrimage.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that special prayers were conducted for the country.
