THE Management of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Aso-Gurku in Mararaba area of Nasarawa State has appealed to the Federal and Nasarawa state governments to provide them with drugs and teaching aids.
The Chairman of the camp, Mr Yohanna Zidico, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the responsibility of caring and providing for the members of the camp by an NGO, Life Line Compassionate Global Initiative (LFGI), that built the camp for them was overwhelming.
“We appealing to the government of Nigeria, now we are about three years now, and we are appealing to the government to help us, particularly in the case of the immunization.
“We have about 620 children below the age of 18 living in this camp and they are in need of the immunisation and we are appealing to government to help us to be sending the people to come and do the immunisation monthly here.
“We are appealing to the government to help us with food items. We also have trained teachers among us that have volunteered to teach our younger ones.
“And the NGO has built a school and we are appealing to the government to help us in the part of education. We have a clinic that was built for us by the Swiss Embassy and we don’t have drugs.
“We have health personnel among us that is managing the clinic, we are appealing the government to help provide us with drugs in the clinic.
Zidico thanked the NGO for building the camp and the traditional ruler of Aso-Gurku kingdom, Mai Kasuwa Darbmir, for accommodating the IDPs who are from the North-East in his kingdom.
