Police detectives in Enugu have arrested a middle aged man for allegedly supplying arms to herdsmen in the state.
In a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, he said that the suspect whose name was given as Samaila Garuba was picked up at 9th Mile Corner on Tuesday, adding that the arms dealer allegedly supplied AK-47 rifle to one herdsman.
Amararizu stated that one Ibrahim Adamu during interrogation said that the suspect sold the gun to him, adding that he (Samaila Garuba) escaped when he got the information about the arrest of Ibrahim Adamu.
It was gathered that luck, however, ran out of ‘Bakasi’ as the suspect is sometimes called as he was trailed to a motor park situated at 9th Mile in Enugu.
“He was nabbed after several efforts by him to escape. The suspect who is now helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to his nefarious activities has revealed that he is from Shagari Village in Sokoto State,” the police image maker stated.
