The vice chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Oye Bandele, has extolled the sterling performance of young table tennis star, Miss Tosin Oribamise, a 200 Level student of Human Kinetics and Health Sciences of the institution.
Oribamise will represent Nigeria at the next youths Olympic Games in Argentina. She also won a gold medal for EKSU at the last Nigeria Universities Games (NUCA) held in Makurdi, Benue State.
Oribamise, one of Nigeria’s top junior table tennis players at the moment, had also won several international laurels coupled with her recent achievements at the Olympic qualifiers tournament in Tunisia, where she qualified to represent Nigeria.
For her exploits, NUGA selected her as the most valuable athlete of the 2017 edition of the games.
At the reception organised for the EKSU contingent to NUGA, Games, the vice chancellor described Tosin Oribamise as a pride of Ekiti State and announced a cash gift of N100,000 for clinching the Olympic qualifying ticket, and another N100,000 for her gold medal at the NUGA Games.
Tosin Oribamise is already pursuing her degree on the scholarship approved by the vice chancellor.
Professor Bandele announced at the occasion that henceforth, any athlete who wins a gold medal for EKSU will be given scholarship.
