A group, The Niger Delta Youth Coalition for Peace and Progress has said peace is the bedrock for sustained peace and development in the Bayelsa state and the Niger Delta region. The group, described Governor Seriake Dickson as the architect of sustained peace and tranquility in the state, and gave him (the Governor) kudos for enthroning peace in fulfillment of his electioneering promise despite the huge challenge of inadequate funds.
Acting Chairman of the group, Pastor Tiedor Jude gave the commendation when he led other members to pay a courtesy call to the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson in his office in Yenagoa.
He said the restoration government led by Governor Dickson is putting solid infrastructure in place to change the land space of the state especially the capital while its bold effort in security is also very evident and as such Bayelsa is now truly safe for business and other activities.
The Group credited development in the modern Bayelsa to Dickson, even as they noted that if others had shown same patriotic zeal and passion the state would have become another el-dorado in the country. He mentioned that of note is the ultra-modern diagnostic hospital, the new governor’s lodge, the airport project among others.
Tiedor lauded Iworiso-Markson for his brilliant management of the governor’s image and his dedicated passion of sustaining the positive public perception the state is enjoying and charged him not to relent as they will continue to support him and the government to succeed.
“We are here basically to humbly urge you to sustain your good works as posterity shall refer to you as the bench mark for good governance. You have set a very high standard to be beaten in terms of public administration” he remarked.
Responding the Chief Press Secretary to the governor thanked the group for the visit and their advocacy role and assured them of his commitment to help achieve their set objectives. He said “I thank you for this visit and also appreciate your efforts to promote peace in the Niger Delta region. This is because what we need most is peace. Without peace there would be no meaningful development”.
