The president of Oja’ba/Mapo Grade ‘C’ Customary Court, sitting at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief Ademola Odunade, has granted the divorce of marriage to one Ibrahim Akanni when his wife refused to appear in the court despite being properly served with hearing notice.
Ibrahim told the court that he married his wife, Aminat, about three years ago as a virgin and they are blessed with a child, who is now about three years old and in custody of her mother.
The man accused his wife of being troublesome. He told the court that she deliberately packed out of his house.
“I want this court to separate us and allow me to be seeing my child who is with her. There is no more love between us. That is all I can say,” Ibrahim told the court.
Having heard from the plaintiff and non-appearance of the defendant even after she had received hearing notice, the court ruled thus: “Dissolution of marriage is hereby granted. Custody of the son is given to the defendant. The plaintiff is hereby ordered to be paying N3,000 monthly as feeding for the child until he grows up. The plaintiff should be responsible for his education and health services. Copy of the judgement should be served on the defendant.”
