The little daughter of the slain broadcaster, Aisha Alli-Balogun Abiose and her pregnant friend who were last weekend abducted by gunmen in Ikorodu area of Lagos State have been released.
Unconfirmed reports had it that the abductors let go of the captives after the husband of the deceased broadcaster had paid an undisclosed amount of money.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the release of the little girl and her mother’s friend to Metro.
The two-year-old girl, Fareeda, was reportedly reunited with her father and other members of the family late on Monday.
It was gathered that the abductors had taken Fareeda and her mother’s friend to a deserted area and handed over their transportation fare to the pregnant woman.
A source, who is close to the family but pleaded anonymity, told Metro that the abductors “actually got in touch with Fareeda’s father who gave them some money.”
She added that “the father was instructed to go and wait for them at a particular place but the gunmen dropped the girl and the woman at another place.”
The family source added that “you know that the girl is still small, so they gave the woman some money for transportation.”
She also said that “the family is not happy with the police and the state government. The police and the government did not show any concern at all.”
When contacted, the image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos confirmed the release of the girl and the woman to Metro.
Badmos said “yes I can confirm that they have been released but I don’t have any information on when they were released.”
