Nigerian actor and activist, Yomi Fabiyi, has reacted to the ongoing clash between Nigerian Afrobeats star,Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, and Seun Kuti, a singer and son of legendary Fela Kuti, advising the music star to ignore the backlash and keep the tattoo of late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

Fabiyi shared his message on Instagram a few hours after Seun Kuti’s recent outburst, which followed a heated exchange between him and Wizkid.

During the dispute, Seun Kuti reportedly cursed the singer, claiming that Wizkid would not find success again unless he removed Fela’s tattoo from his hand.

Reacting to the situation, Yomi Fabiyi urged Wizkid not to be distracted by the controversy. He explained that Fela’s legacy extends beyond music, noting that the late musician represented resistance, sacrifice, and the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Fabiyi also pointed out that Wizkid has consistently shown respect for Fela’s legacy. He referenced the singer’s appearances at Felabration events, his public tributes to Fela, and the decision to tattoo the icon’s image.

According to Fabiyi, Wizkid represents a new phase in the history of Afrobeats as a global music figure and should continue to focus on honour and peace.

He described the singer as a national asset and said both Wizkid and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti deserve respect from Nigerians.

Fabiyi ended his message by praying for Wizkid’s long life and success, encouraging him to rise above theclash and stay focused on his legacy.

He wrote,

“Dear Wizzy, Please don’t be tempted to erase Fela’s image you tattooed. Manage this storm very well, mate. You unarguably represent a revolution/history in Nigeria and Afro Beat music.

“Yes, aside the fact that Late Legend, Fela enjoys pioneer status, he represents a revolution, and his impact is felt in terms of giving voice to the voiceless, fight against corruption, sacrifices and indeed the democracy we now enjoy. His music is a movement.

“You have acknowledged and celebrated Fela more than millions of us have. For a musician of your status to have graced, several Felabrations means you have ensured you sustain Fela’s legacy.

“For a global music legend like you to have tattooed him on your skin, you spoke highly of him in a recent documentary, etc. we know your genuine opinion, and the situation should have been managed better.

“Continue to celebrate Fela and walk the path of honor and peace. You are a BIG STAR, a living legend, you are a national asset, and we hold Legendary Fela Anikulapo and you Ayo Balogun in high esteem. I can’t trade you both for anything. I don’t compare because comparison is proof of nothing.

“May you live long and fulfill more dreams. Greater you Wizzy,” he said.
