Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has dismissed rumours linking her in romantic relationship with fellow actor Daniel Etim Effiong, saying their kissing scenes were strictly professional and only part of movie roles.

Ogunmola spoke during an interview with Jay On-Air TV, where she addressed public reactions to some of their romantic scenes in films and clarified that there was no emotional attachment or relationship outside work.

According to the actress, the scenes were carried out as required by movie scripts and were never meant to be interpreted as real-life romance.

She explained that things became uncomfortable after social media users began spreading rumours that she and Daniel Etim Effiong were involved romantically off-screen.

Ogunmola said the assumptions were false and unnecessary, adding that the actor’s wife understood the nature of his profession and had no issues with the scenes.

She said people close to actors usually understand that film scenes are fictional and should not be confused with real-life situations.

She said: “We only kiss in movies. Even his wife is not bothered because she understands Daniel’s job. People started linking us together after the movie scenes, but there is nothing between us outside work. We are only colleagues in the industry.

“Actors are simply playing roles given to them, but people sometimes fail to separate movies from real life. We are not close outside film sets and there are no hidden feelings or arrangements. Professional boundaries are important in Nollywood.”
