The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) on Thursday endorsed Lagos State deputy governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for the state’s governorship seat in next year’s general election.

Members of the association unanimously declared their support for Hamzat during a meeting held in Ikeja.

National President of the association, Olugbenga Adebola, said the decision aligns with the position of their Grand Patron, President Bola Tinubu, whom he noted has consistently championed capable and experienced leadership for Lagos State.

According to him, AWAMN has benefitted significantly from both President Tinubu and the Lagos State government, hence its decision to support his preferred candid

Adebola described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat and administrator whose track record in governance and public service distinguishes him as a worthy successor to lead the state.

He noted that Hamzat’s experience spans critical sectors, having served under successive administrations in Lagos State.

He recalled that Hamzat held key roles, including Commissioner for Science and Technology, and later Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, during the administrations of Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola.

In these capacities, Adebola said, Hamzat played pivotal roles in advancing infrastructural development and technological growth across the state.

He highlighted that Hamzat currently serves as deputy governor under Babajide Sanwo-Olu, where he continues to contribute to policy formulation and implementation.

According to Adebola, Hamzat’s consistent involvement in governance underscores not only his experience but also his deep institutional knowledge of Lagos State.

“He has demonstrated capacity, competence, and tenacity in every office he has held.

“His contributions to project development and governance have been instrumental in the successes recorded under different administrations,” he said.

Adebola also described Hamzat as a professional with strong leadership qualities, citing his technical expertise, humility, and responsiveness to the needs of Lagos residents.

He added that Hamzat’s role in the socio-economic development of the state, particularly in infrastructure and public service delivery, has set a benchmark worthy of continuity.

Calling on other professional bodies and stakeholders in Lagos State to rally behind Hamzat’s aspiration, Adebola expressed confidence that the state would remain in safe hands under his leadership.

He urged members of the association and the wider public to support Hamzat’s governorship ambition, stressing that his track record, integrity, and vision position him as a strong candidate for the office.
