THE Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Oladipupo Adebutu, has urged the people of Ijebuland to end the reign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state at the 2027 polls.
Adebutu made the call in Ijebu-Ode during the flag-off of the PDP campaign for the 2027 elections, where he rallied supporters behind the party’s candidates, including its Ogun East senatorial candidate, Abdul-Hamid Femi Omotayo.
The former federal lawmaker said Ijebu should wake up from its slumber, and emulate the recent electoral performance of the PDP in Osun State by mobilising voters and ensuring their votes count.
Adebutu criticised the state of infrastructure in Ogun, particularly roads and healthcare facilities, questioning why residents should continue to support the APC despite what he described as deteriorating public services.
He also faulted the prolonged delay in the selection of a new Awujale of Ijebuland, as well as the vacancies in other traditional stools, arguing that the government should not interfere with the legitimate traditional processes of communities.
According to him, the PDP’s participation in the 2027 election is about restoring what he described as liberty, freedom and good governance to the people of Ogun.
Adebutu, with PDP’s deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, in attendance, called on voters to protect their ballots, stressing that the party will work to accelerate development and improve living conditions if returned to power.

He also urged supporters not to allow inducements from rival parties to determine their electoral choices.
At the rally, Adebutu introduced Omotayo, popularly known as Omo Owo, as the PDP’s candidate for Ogun East senatorial district, describing him as a credible and capable personality who could provide quality representation.
He also presented a former federal lawmaker, Wale Ogunbanjo as the PDP candidate for the Ijebu North East/Odogbolu/Ijebu-Ode federal constituency, saying both candidates have the capacity to promote accountability and development in Ijebuland.
