Adedeji Adeleke, the father of popular Nigerian artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly addressed long-standing paternity allegations involving his son, insisting that DNA test had already ruled out the singer as the biological father of a girl identified as Anu Adeleke.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke said the controversy dated back to 2014 when he received a letter from a lawyer alleging that Davido had impregnated a woman, Ayo Labinjoh, and abandoned the child.

He disclosed that he personally initiated a DNA test after receiving a formal complaint from the child’s maternal grandmother.

According to him, arrangements were made at a hospital in Lekki, Lagos, where saliva samples were collected from Davido and the child and sent to South Africa for analysis.

The result, he said, showed a zero percent probability of paternity, confirming that the singer was not the father.

Adeleke explained that the child’s mother and grandmother were present during the test and co-signed to receive the results.

He added that his family offered to conduct two additional confirmatory DNA tests at reputable facilities of their choice and even promised to cover their accommodation expenses in Lagos for the duration of the test, but the offer was later declined.

He further alleged that the grandmother accused Davido of bribing hospital staff to manipulate the test results, a claim he dismissed as unfounded.

Adeleke said the accusations later escalated into repeated social media campaigns driven by controversial social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, who had taken over the case.

The billionaire businessman also revealed that in 2020, another relative of the child contacted him to reopen discussions on further DNA testing.

He said he welcomed the request and proposed independent testing at a clinic of their choice to settle the matter conclusively.

Tribune Onlinereports that the ‘Fem’ crooner recently responded to a public request by the child requesting a DNA test and insisted that previous DNA tests had already resolved the matter.
