A review of Mercy E. Agbor’s book, Power of Consecration
PASTOR Mercy E. Agbor’s book, Power of Consecration highlights the purpose of God for his vessels, with the author explaining that consecration means to set apart for the use of God for a given purpose.
According to the author, consecration also means perfect obedience; dedication of oneself, first born sons, priests, possessions, among others.
In explaining this further, the author takes readers back to the Old Testament when God declares in Exodus 19 verse 6 that: “And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and an holy nation.” Here, God consecrated his people to serve Him.
However, in that service to God comes benefits, with the author highlighting some benefits accruable from serving Him. According to the author, one of the benefits is that consecration is a weapon of deliverance and helps in destroying wrong imaginations.
Another benefit is that it also makes God to fight on our behalf, while also adding colour to one’s Christian life. Living a consecrated life also makes one to have joy and peace in the Lord, while healing one of all infirmities.
The benefits of being consecrated are inexhaustible, and this is the reason one must dedicate one’s life to God in order to enjoy all the benefits.
The book also delves into the consecrated lives of men of great faith like Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Deborah, Samuel, Elijah, Elisha and many others in the Bible.
However, in order to live a consecrated life, the book highlights certain things one must exercise control over one’s life, and these are one’s eyes, mouth, lips, tongue, heart, money, fashion trend, lying spirit, unforgiving spirit, disobedience, gossiping, among others.
The author, Pastor Agbor, has done a great work that will help lift the spiritual lives of Christians, while drawing them closer to God.
This book is, therefore, recommended for all Christians who are desirous of living consecrated lives according to the dictates and command of God.
