Idris Mohammed, 23, was sentenced on Wednesday by an Area Court in Jos to three months in jail for stealing iron rods valued at N 200,000.
Following his admission of guilt and request for mercy from the court, Judge Shawomi Bokkos sentenced the offender.
The convict was also offered the option of a N30,000 fine by the judge.
Prior to this, Insp Monday Dabit, the police prosecutor, informed the court that Mr Sarpila Yaro had reported the case at the “B” Division police station on August 6.
He claimed that the defendant broke into his chicken farm and took N 200,000 worth of iron rods.
The prosecution also informed the court that the accused had admitted to committing the crime during the course of the police investigation.
