Former Minister of Defence and Attorney General, Prince Kayode Adetokunbo, SAN, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his recent appointments, describing the selections as a strategic effort to bring the best brains into key national offices to enhance the performance of the administration.

Speaking in Akure, Adetokunbo expressed appreciation for the inclusion of several distinguished personalities from Ondo State in strategic national roles.

He specifically highlighted the contributions of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whose innovative reforms in the Nigeria Immigration Service have significantly improved previously cumbersome processes, reducing unnecessary delays and enhancing service delivery to Nigerians.

According to him, Tunji-Ojo’s performance has placed Ondo State on a national pedestal as a hub of intellectual and professional excellence.

Adetokunbo also commended the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, for elevating the profile of Ondo State through impactful youth-focused initiatives.

He described the achievements of these ministers as evidence of the positive transformations that skilled and dedicated leadership can bring to national institutions.

Turning to other appointees from Ondo State, the former minister congratulated Taiwo Oyedele, newly appointed Minister of State (Finance), praising his expertise in taxation and financial matters.

He also lauded Ambassador Sola Iji, assigned to Russia, and Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, for their exemplary professional backgrounds and potential to represent the country with distinction on the international stage.

On law enforcement, Adetokunbo commended Olatunji Disu, recently appointed the 23rd Inspector General of Police, describing him as a “well-regarded and quintessential police officer.”

He urged Disu to lead with courage and integrity, modernize the force, uphold the rule of law, and boost the morale of officers.

Adetokunbo stated that “We can see the impactful turnaround of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunj-Ojo, which is made in the various institutions under the Ministry of Interior.

“An assessment of the Nigeria Immigration Services is a typical example of the meteoric positive change brought about by innovations introduced by the Minister within a short period in office.

“I want to thank Mr. President for appointing the new Minister of State(Finance), Taiwo Oyedele, Ambassador Sola Iji,(Russia) and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as the UN Permanent Representative.

“I commend President Tinubu for nominating these worthy sons of Ondo State for national assignments.”

Adetokunbo, however, reiterated his support for the President’s choices, emphasizing that the quality of appointees reflects careful consideration and a commitment to national development.

“It’s worthy of commendation, the appointments recently made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, considering the quality of the brains he selected.

“I want to thank Mr. President for appointing these worthy sons of Ondo State for national assignments, and I am confident they will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth and global reputation.” he said.
