The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ardo-Kola local government area of Taraba state, have endorsed Hon. Victor Yakubu of Kona ethnic for the party chairmanship ticket for the November state local government election.

In a press statement issued to journalists on Thursday and signed by Chief Titus Yohanna, Chairman Mumuye Cultural Development Association, Mr Bulus Sule, Youth Leader and Hon. Markus M. Sanya, Mumuye Elder, indicate that the development following a unanimous understanding by the Mumuye stakeholders in the local government concerning zoning arrangement.

According to the statement, the stakeholders resolved during their meeting that, for the interest of peace, equity, justice and progress, the Kona ethnic supposed to emerge as chairman of the local since Kona has never tested the seat.
“For the sake of unity, inclusiveness, peace, equity, justice and progress, there is a need for zoning of political offices to carry all ethnic groups along in the local government. The Member representing the Ardo-Kola Constituency in the State House of Assembly is of Mumuye extraction, while the Member the House of Representatives is of Wurukum stock.
“For the sake of equity, fair play, justice, inclusiveness and development, there is a need to allow a Kona man to go for the position of Chairman of the Local Government. Since the creation of Ardo-Kola Local Government, a Kona man has never tasted the seat of Chairman, and there is a need to give them a chance for the sake of inclusiveness of all tribal groups in the local government.
“It is in the light of the above that the meeting endorsed Hon Victor Yakubu of the PDP for the position of Chairman, Ardo-Kola Local Government. The choice of Hon Victor Yakubu is based on his track record and contribution to the party and unity of the people of Ardo-Kola Local Government,” The statement read.
The statement also call on other tribes in the local government to support the choice of Hon. Victor Yakubu for the sake of unity, inclusiveness and development of the local government.
