Taraba LG polls: PDP endorses Nyatoruba as Yorro chairmanship candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yorro local government area of Taraba State has endorsed Hon Cleophas Nyatoruba for the party chairmanship ticket ahead of the November state local government election.

A press statement issued to journalists on Wednesday and signed by Hon. Amos Mago, Hon. Geoffrey Mading and all traditional rulers in the local local government, indicates that the development follows a unanimous understanding by stakeholders in the local government concerning zoning arrangement.

According to the statement, the stakeholders resolved during their meeting on Tuesday that, for the interest of peace, equity, justice and progress, citizens of the local government need to consider the fact that the Member representing Yorro Constituency in the Taraba state House of Assembly is from the Mumuye Chiefdom while, the present commissioner in the State executive Council, Hon. Bernard S. James is from Kassa Chiefdom.

“For the interest of peace, equity, justice and progress, citizens of our local government need to understand and consider the fact that the Member representing Yorro Constituency in the Taraba state House of Assembly is from the Mumuye Chiefdom while, the present commissioner in the State executive Council Hon. Bernard S. James is from Kassa Chiefdom.

“Considering the political zoning arrangement of our local government, the chairmanship position of Yorro local government suppose to be zoned to Lankaviri and kwaji Chiefdoms” The stakeholders resolved, according to the statement.

The statement also said, “six (6) aspirants who indicated interest in the position stepped down for Hon. Cleophas Nyatoruba who hails from Kwaji Chiefdom as sole contestant, and was unanimously endorsed by all PDP stakeholders in the local and Traditional rulers.”
