The 8 Division of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday decorated four senior officers elevated from Colonel to Brigadier General, in a ceremony held at the Eagle Officers’ Mess, Sokoto.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, presided over the event.
In his remarks, Maj.-Gen. Ajose congratulated the officers, describing their promotion as a recognition of years of hard work, discipline and dedication to national service.
“Their achievements reflect not only personal excellence but also the strength and values of the Nigerian Army,” he said. “I am immensely proud of each of them, and I would be honoured to serve alongside them anywhere in the future.”
He also commended the families of the officers, noting that their support remained crucial to the success of military personnel.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in them and expressed appreciation to Maj.-Gen. Ajose for his leadership.
“We are humbled by this honour and the trust placed in us,” he said. “We pledge to redouble our efforts and continue to serve our nation with integrity and distinction.”
Those decorated were Brigadier General Mansur Tijani, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration); Brigadier General Husaini Toro, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations); Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu, Commander 58 Signals Brigade; and Brigadier General David Chidozie Ibeh, Commander 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
