Religious sentiments have blindfolded Babacir Lawal – APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, has berated the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babacir Lawal, over his statement that whatever INEC and Supreme Court would say over the 2023 election the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi has won the Presidential election.

Babacir had said, “Whatever the  INEC or Supreme Court says, Obi won the election”.

In a statement issued to the Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, Alawuje, who is also the National Coordinator of Disciples of Jagaban (DoJ), noted that religious sentiments are blindfolding the former SGF.

According to the APC Chieftain, “I wonder why Babacir would jump to a conclusion for a petition that is yet to be heard at the apex court.

The statement opined that Babacir’s recent outburst  is directly challenging the reputation of the entire Judiciary and harming the government, saying this kind of statement is supposed to  come from an ordinary citizen, not a former SGF

“Why do we still have a country called Nigeria today? It is because the majority of  Christians and Muslims refused to listen to this man called Babacir Lawal and his co-travellers. They almost set the entire nation on fire during the last presidential campaigns.

“Some of them have been surreptitiously fueling religious crisis in the past. They exploit religious sentiments when it suits them, especially when they are no longer favoured at the centre.

“We give glory to the Almighty God for His divine love for this country, if not, Nigeria would have been like Israel and Palestine today.

“Those are the disgruntled elements who don’t give a damn in sacrificing this country’s very existence and unity for their own personal and selfish political interests.

“Having lost out in his respective bid to become the vice president, he put up a heated religious conflagration. He turned completely away from normal politics and initiated politics of hate. It was as if he was mentally derailed.

“Thus, his recent outburst of the former  SGF is not surprising at all. To say the least, he’s being blindfolded with religious sentiments. Our advice to him is to join hands with the present government under President Bola Tinubu in moving the country forward, the statement asserted.
