For 27 families, what began as a dream of owning a home finally became real as they received the keys to their properties at the Ibudo Wura housing community along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The atmosphere was one of excitement and relief as the new homeowners took possession of their houses, marking the end of a journey that began with the decision to invest in their own homes.
For some of the homeowners, the occasion was more than a formal handover. It was the moment their financial commitment finally translated into a physical home they could walk into, furnish and call their own.
Among those who received their keys was Mrs Yetunde Oyegunle, who said she initially heard about Ibudo Wura through a friend.
“I was introduced to Mixta Africa and Ibudo Wura by a friend and I decided to give it a try,” she said.
But it was only when she arrived at the estate for the handover that the reality of her investment fully sank in.
“Getting here today, I was overwhelmed by what I saw and I am happy because this is real,” Oyegunle said.
She described the estate as beautiful, praising the finishing of her home and the surrounding environment.
“The estate is beautiful, the home finishing is excellent and the environment is conducive. I will definitely recommend the developers to anyone who is interested in owning a property because this is real,” she added.
For Mrs Soprinye Banjo, another new homeowner, the quality of the property and the environment were important considerations in deciding whether her family had made the right choice.

After interacting with the engineers and facility managers at the estate, Banjo said she felt reassured about the environment her family would be moving into.
“What I am seeing today is good quality for the price, it is an excellent job done. I like the environment,” she said.
“Speaking with the engineers and facility managers today, I am confident that my family is in good hands.”
The handover brings to 192 the number of completed homes delivered at Ibudo Wura across Phases 1 and 2, according to Mixta Africa.
For the developer, the occasion was also an opportunity to underline the importance of delivery in maintaining the confidence of homebuyers, particularly at a time when owning a home remains a major financial undertaking for many Nigerians.
Group Chief Commercial Officer of Mixta Africa, Tola Akinsulire, said handing over keys was one of the most important moments in the relationship between a developer and its customers.
“It is when our promise becomes tangible. Buying a home is a significant financial and emotional commitment, and customers need confidence that what they have paid for will be delivered,” Akinsulire said.
“Today, 27 more families have taken possession of homes they can call their own. Our responsibility is to keep earning that trust through consistent delivery across our communities.”
The company said the development forms part of its more than 20-year track record of delivering homes across Africa, with more than 30,000 homes delivered to date.
Beyond the completed buildings, access to financing has also played a role in helping some of the homeowners achieve their dream of property ownership.
According to Mixta Africa, buyers at Ibudo Wura were able to access financing with as little as 10 per cent equity payable over six months, at an interest rate of 9.75 percent per annum, with repayment tenors ranging from five to 20 years.
The financing is available through the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) Real Estate Investment Fund (MREIF).
With more homes still available at the estate, the developer said prospective buyers can purchase one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom row houses and H-type units.
Available units start from N58.319 million for outright purchase, while six- and 12-month instalment payment options are also available.
For the 27 new homeowners, however, the figures and financing arrangements have now given way to something more personal—the reality of having a place to call home.
As they collected their keys and stepped into their properties, the long-awaited transition from homebuyer to homeowner was complete.
