THE Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Northern Affairs, Suleiman Ibrahim Suleiman, has advised Muslim faithful to adhere strictly to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad as they observe Ramadan fasting.
In a message, Suleiman described Ramadan as a special 30-day season of prayer and spiritual devotion observed by Muslims across the world.
According to him, Ramadan is a sacred month during which Muslims dedicate themselves to Allah in prayers, abstinence and righteous conduct, devoid of sinful behaviour.
He explained that as revealed in the Holy Qur’an to Muhammad, Muslims are expected to abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset, avoid adultery and shun all immoral acts, in strict observance of the laid-down rules of the fast.
“During the month, Muslim faithful do not eat or drink during the day. Adultery and lying are not tolerated,” he said.
Suleiman urged Muslims to stay away from all forms of sin and remain steadfast in observing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad throughout the holy month.
He added that any Muslim who deliberately breaks the fast through adultery or other forbidden acts would be required to atone in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
In his remarks, the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Monde Chiroma, called on Muslims to intensify their prayers for the peace, progress and development of Imo State.
He encouraged them to remain dedicated, law-abiding and committed to the true teachings and values of Ramadan.
