Power Oil has successfully executed a community-building initiative around the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2026, providing structured training support to participants and awarding N500,000 in prizes to the top three community finishers.
The Power Oil Exclusive Running Community, which operated for several weeks leading up to the February 14 marathon, represents the brand’s comprehensive fitness initiative, combining professional coaching, peer support, and performance recognition.
The program was designed to accommodate participants across fitness levels, from beginners to experienced runners.
According to Roland Akpe, Marketing Manager, Oils and Fats Portfolio at Tolaram, the initiative aligns with Power Oil’s established position as Nigeria’s leading brand for heart-healthy cooking.
“For over a decade, Power Oil has advocated for cardiovascular wellness,” Akpe explained. “The exclusive community translates this advocacy into tangible action, supporting Nigerians as they make real changes to their heart health.”
The marathon initiative builds on Power Oil’s existing health programs, including:
- WalkHeartOn, commemorating World Heart Day annually
- Free health screening camps reaching tens of thousands of Nigerians
- Ongoing education about heart-healthy cooking and lifestyle
While the marathon has concluded, the Power Oil Exclusive Community continues to operate, with plans for additional fitness activities and ongoing support for members pursuing healthy lifestyles.
The initiative demonstrates evolving corporate engagement in Nigeria, where leading brands are moving beyond traditional sponsorship to create meaningful, sustained community impact.
