The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his exceptional leadership and commitment to staff welfare, professionalism, and institutional reforms in the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking on Monday at the Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, during the decoration of twenty-four newly promoted senior officers, CP Azare described the IGP as a reform-driven leader who has restored confidence, fairness, and merit to the Force’s promotion system.
According to the Police Commissioner, “Promotion in the Nigeria Police Force is not a routine exercise but a recognition of hard work, discipline, and dedication to duty. What we are witnessing today is a product of the Inspector-General’s commitment to justice, transparency, and the reward of excellence.”
He noted that IGP Egbetokun’s administration has inspired a more motivated, professional, and efficient police workforce through continuous training, capacity building, and improved welfare schemes.
Azare said, “Under IGP Egbetokun’s leadership, we are seeing a redefined Police Force where officers are promoted strictly on merit. The result is what we have today — a set of highly motivated personnel ready to serve with integrity and renewed dedication.”
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, the CP reminded them that promotion comes with greater responsibilities, urging them to remain humble, uphold the rule of law, and demonstrate leadership worthy of the confidence reposed in them.
“As you wear your new ranks, remember that the higher you go, the greater the expectations placed upon you,” he charged. “Let integrity, professionalism, and fairness guide your conduct at all times.”
CP Azare also reaffirmed the Command’s support for ongoing police reforms, pledging to strengthen community policing, intelligence-led operations, and synergy with sister agencies to sustain Akwa Ibom’s reputation as one of the safest states in the country.
While appreciating the families of the newly promoted officers for their patience and sacrifices, Azare reiterated that their success reflects not only personal effort but also the institutional commitment to the Force’s renewed value system.
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, CSP Maximus Sarah Oloto thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for their confidence and fairness in the promotion process. She also commended CP Azare and his management team for their mentorship and guidance.
