Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Niger State Command, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered dangerous weapons following a robbery incident at a hotel in Minna.

This is contained in a statement by its Public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Wednesday in Minna.

Abiodun said that the arrest followed a report received on May 9, at about 9:30 am by the Maitumbi Division from a hotel manager that two miscreants armed with weapons broke into the hotel and robbed some guests of their valuables.

According to him, Police operatives attached to Maitumbi Division were immediately drafted to the scene, and subsequently, two suspects were arrested in the process.

“The suspects, identified as Abba Umar, 28, and Zakariya Abubakar, 23, both residents of Sabon-Titi, Minna, were arrested with cutlasses for allegedly trespassing into the hotel and robbing guests of their valuables,” he said.

Abiodun added that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.

In another development, the police also arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Hussaini Mohammed of Guye-Doko village in Kwara State, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Mokwa, Niger.

He said the suspect was intercepted by a police patrol team attached to Mokwa Division on May 5, at about 3:00 a.m, while riding a Bajaj motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the motorcycle belonged to his father, and that he left Kwara heading to Kontagora to sell the motorcycle.

He said that the suspect took the decision to sell the motorcycle without his father’s consent.

According to Abiodun, when his father was contacted, he denied giving his consent.

Abiodun said the suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.
