Four suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Mushin, with a locally made pistol and live ammunition recovered from the suspects.
The suspects, who were arrested following intelligence on cult-related activities in the area, reportedly admitted to being members of the group and allegedly made disclosures about violent crimes, including killings, in Mushin and other parts of Lagos.
The Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune.

According to her, operatives first arrested Irawo Moshod, who allegedly identified himself as a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity in the area.
“During investigation, the suspect admitted to being a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity cult group and made useful disclosures regarding the activities of the group, including his alleged involvement in several killings within Mushin and other parts of Lagos State,” she said.
Acting on information provided by Moshod, the operatives proceeded to Idi-Oro, Mushin, where they recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and one 9mm live ammunition.
Three other suspects, identified as Abayomi James, 29; Farouq Bankole, 28; and Steven Sunday, 19, were subsequently arrested at Aganran by Ojuwoye.
The police said the suspects admitted membership of the Aiye Confraternity and claimed that the recovered firearm was obtained from a man identified as Rilwan, whom they described as a senior member of the group.
The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the group.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as a proactive and intelligence-driven operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents, warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from criminal activities or face the law.
