…commits to stronger collaboration with Nigerian Army, other security agencies to sustain peace in Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Wednesday, stressed that peace and security remain the bedrock of development, noting that his administration will continue to work closely with all security formations to ensure the safety of lives and property while preserving the reputation of Gombe as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.

The governor was speaking to newsmen when he received the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General WM Dangana, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Gombe.

He stressed the imperative of sustained collaboration between the state government and security agencies to preserve the peace and stability for which Gombe is renowned.

Inuwa Yahaya said his government places a premium on inter-agency collaboration, especially at a time when political activities are gathering momentum across the country.

“We must continue to work together and deepen our synergy in our collective responsibility of providing robust security for our people. Everything revolves around peace and security. Despite the increasing political activities, Gombe State will remain the peaceful state it has always been,” the governor stated.

The Governor assured of his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies operating in the state through the provision of necessary operational logistics to enhance their effectiveness and boost the morale of personnel in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

He commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their sacrifices and professionalism in tackling criminality, insurgency and other emerging security threats across the country, describing their efforts as critical to maintaining national unity and stability.

The Governor assured the new GOC of his administration’s full cooperation, expressing confidence that the existing cordial relationship between the Gombe State government and the Nigerian Army would be further strengthened under his leadership.

Speaking earlier, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Major General WM Dangana, said his visit was part of his familiarisation tour of military formations under his area of responsibility following his recent posting.

He explained that he was in Gombe to formally introduce himself to the governor after assuming command from his predecessor, following the recent redeployment of senior officers in the Nigerian Army.

General Dangana noted that the 3 Division oversees military operations across Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba States, adding that the visit will afford him the opportunity to assess operational activities within the Division’s jurisdiction.

According to him, “I came to see the state of formations under my purview and I am particularly pleased to observe that Gombe State remains relatively peaceful and secure. We also had a warm, pleasant and fruitful discussion with His Excellency.”

The GOC commended the governor for his support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, describing the governor’s cooperation as instrumental to the successes recorded in maintaining peace and security in the state.

“I must commend His Excellency for the support and cooperation he has consistently extended to our troops here in Gombe. It is my commitment to build on the peace and security already recorded and to further strengthen our collaboration with the state government in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all”, General Dangana assured.
