Oyo State Government has vowed to prosecute any individual, teacher, head teacher or principal found culpable of examination malpractice in connection with the recently conducted Common Entrance Placement Examination.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, stated this during a meeting with some Local Inspectors of Education (LIEs) and principals.

The meeting was convened to investigate allegations of examination leakage and malpractice surrounding the Common Entrance Placement Examination conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2026, for admission of pupils into Junior Secondary School One (JSS1).

Olayiwola said the state government had taken several measures to prevent examination malpractice during the Joint Promotion and Common Entrance examinations.

He said, “We will leave no stone unturned in identifying and bringing to book any individual, teacher, head teacher or principal found culpable of examination malpractice in any form.”

The commissioner said the government would not allow any action capable of undermining the integrity of the state’s education system.

He disclosed that all principals had signed letters of indemnity, stressing that any school administrator found to have aided, abetted or participated in examination malpractice would face appropriate sanctions under the law.

According to him, “All principals have signed letters of indemnity, and any school administrator found aiding, abetting or engaging in examination malpractice will be liable to appropriate sanctions.”

Olayiwola further said the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable would face both disciplinary and legal consequences, regardless of status or position.

He said, “We will investigate these allegations thoroughly and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the necessary disciplinary and legal consequences, irrespective of status or position.”

The commissioner, however, urged broadcast media organisations to exercise caution in reporting allegations, advising journalists and presenters to verify claims and conduct proper investigations before indicting individuals or institutions.

He said, “The media must exercise caution and responsibility when reporting allegations. Claims should be properly verified and thoroughly investigated before individuals or institutions are indicted.”

Olayiwola reiterated the commitment of the Oyo State Government to maintaining transparency, credibility, and fairness in the conduct of examinations across the state.
