The City Boy Movement, an All Progressives Congress (APC) support group in Ondo State, has said it is targeting more than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The state director of the movement, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle, stated this on Tuesday at a mobilisation rally in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.

Ayejusunle said the rally was organised to sensitise residents on the need to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 election.

He noted that Ondo had about 2.5 million registered voters, but only 369,000 votes were recorded for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, leaving a large pool of registered voters yet to participate actively in elections.

He said the movement was mobilising voters across party lines to support Tinubu, adding that its activities were not restricted to the APC structure.

“We are reaching out to people who are not members of the party but are willing to vote for Asiwaju. We are going into neighbourhoods, communities and non-political organisations to mobilise them.

“That is what we are doing differently because we do not rely solely on the party structure,” he said.

Ayejusunle expressed confidence that Tinubu would win a second term, saying Nigerians were now better informed about the administration’s policies and achievements.

Also speaking, the Ondo North Senatorial Coordinator of the movement, Tajudeen Ogun, said the group was mobilising support for Tinubu because of what he described as the administration’s achievements in the state.

Ogun, a former Leader of the House in Akoko North-East Local Government, said, “Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office, we have seen a lot of positive developments in Ondo State.

“We have two substantive ministers from Ondo North, while the state has three substantive ministers. They are all contributing to the development of the state.”

He commended the Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, for supporting the movement and community development initiatives.

Ogun declared that the movement would deliver more than one million votes for Tinubu in the state in 2027.

“In Ondo State, since 1999, we have not recorded up to 400,000 presidential votes for a candidate. But in 2027, we will give President Tinubu more than one million votes,” he said.

He urged residents to come out and vote rather than stay away from the election, cautioning them against being deceived by monetary inducements.

The Ikare coordinator of the movement, Sanusi Bashiru, said the group was intensifying its grassroots mobilisation, while its women leader, Owoeye Dele, said women in the area had rallied behind Tinubu.
