Obasanjo, Abiodun, others to attend Canada Trade Mission pre-conference session in Abeokuta

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo are among the dignitaries expected to grace the pre-conference session of the 2024 Canada Trade Mission.

The pre-conference session scheduled to take place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto in Abeokuta on Monday, October 24th will galvanise artisans, local talents, and the economy in diverse sectors in preparation for their exposure to investors in Canada and the global market.

Guests expected at the event include Chief Obasanjo, Governor Abiodun, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson; foremost filmmaker, Tunde Kelani.

Speakers billed for the event are Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Babatunde Adeyemo; Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Mrs Oluwatosin Oloko and Special Adviser to Ogun Governor on Job & Employment Creation, Mr Abiola Odetola.

According to the organisers, Solteque Group, the pre-conference session is a pre-cursor to the 2024 Canada Trade Mission which is a fair aimed at showcasing opportunities available for Nigerians in diaspora in the real estate sector, Adire, Isanyan, Aso Oke and other local fabrics business that are synonymous with the Egba people in Ogun State.

CEO of Solteque Group and promoter of the 5-day mission in Canada, Chief Olawale Olaleye, revealed that during the event, Adeyemo will educate participants on how to take advantage of the real estate investment back home.

Olaleye, who is also the Bobawoga of Orile Itesi, Egbaland, said: “We are looking at a project that is set to bring about a quarter to half a billion-dollar investments into Ogun State, particularly Abeokuta from investors and other participants that are going to channel their resources back home.

“It is going to be a trade show, product exhibitions, talk show. The ‘Canada Trade Mission 2024’ is borne out of the idea of trying to let our people in diaspora see the opportunities that are in real estate at home.”

Speaking in the same vein, Adeyemo the mission will help Nigerians in the diaspora guide their investments back home such that they do not fall into the wrong hands.

He said: “The mission is trying to help those that are ripe to Japada, to make a solid investment back home. I will be there to give advice so that when they come back, they will not fall into the wrong hands posing as real estate players.

“The prey of these scammers are the diasporans who had worked in the snow and want to invest their hard-earned savings/earnings in Nigeria.

“I’m going there personally to be part of the discussants and to let people know the value of the real estate investment and how to start early before they eventually Japada. So, it is my passion and I’m really happy to be part of this development.

“The value of the investment expected cannot be overemphasised. Once they pay, they get their allocation almost immediately. It is not the case of someone waiting for months or years to get allocated.

“We have done our beacon sheet and it is government-approved. We have Pelican Greenish Acres Farm Estate for them to keep their heart and soul together. We have Pelican Ecostay Apartments where we build houses for them. You can buy ready-made houses from us so that you don’t fall prey to the wrong hands and lose your money. We are fully prepared to meet demands.”
