NYSC deploys 1,691 prospective corps members to Bauchi

A total of 1,691 prospective Corps members have been deployed to Bauchi State for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ stream 1 orientation exercise by management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The disclosure was made by the State Coordinator, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, in an interactive session with newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi.

According to her, the orientation camping for the Corps members will begin on November 1 and end on 21 of the same month at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Wailo, in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

Rifkatu Yakubu explained that each of the prospective corps members will be allowed into the camp only after being certified to be one of those posted to the state for the one-year compulsory national service.

She also said that this was part of the security measures to ensure that there was no intrusion or impersonation of any Corps members.

According to her, “Registration dates have been assigned to each prospective corps member and they are advised to adhere strictly to all the camp’s rules and regulations.

“Defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the NYSC by-laws.”

The state coordinator also reiterated that the scheme frowned at late night journeys, thereby urging the prospective corps members to avoid it, starting from their various towns in order to get to the camp in the daytime.

She then advised them to be punctual, diligent and to comply with the camp’s acceptable dress code, adding that negligence of the NYSC dressing code would not be tolerated.

Riktatu Yakubu also urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards did not travel by night due to the insecurity situation along Nigeria roads.
