Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has cautioned members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) against resorting to court actions, warning that internal disputes could derail efforts to build a strong political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi made the call in a video that surfaced on Sunday, shortly after he and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, were seen receiving membership cards of the party, signalling their move into the platform.
He urged party members to maintain unity and avoid internal crises, stressing that legal battles have repeatedly weakened political parties in Nigeria.
“Please let there be no litigation. Party members, please don’t go to court. We want to build a party, we are not lawyers.

“We are pleading with the judiciary. Please end cases in party so we can face the job of building a new Nigeria that is possible,” he said.
Obi said the focus must remain on building a functional political structure capable of delivering national change, rather than pursuing personal interests.
“We want to build a country where a child of nobody can be somebody without knowing anybody. That is what we want to do,” he said.
He also warned against actions that could destabilise the party at a critical stage, adding that discipline would be enforced to keep the platform on course.
