Nigerian construction expert unveils cost databank to transform industry

Rotimi Taiwo, a leading figure in Nigeria’s construction sector, has launched a cost databank which would enhance transparency and efficiency in the industry.

Nigeria’s construction industry has been faced with challenges such as project delays, cost overruns, and the need for sustainable practices in construction cost management.

Recent studies reveal major issues in the sector, with project costs exceeding estimates by 25% and delivery timelines delayed by 32%.

However, Taiwo, who has over seven years of experience in Construction Management and Engineering, stated that implementing cost databank initiatives would enhance accountability, reduce inefficiencies, and promote transparency in the construction industry.

This approach, he added, would help develop a forensic framework for post-contract construction costs.

Speaking about the project, Taiwo said, “I am deeply committed to advancing the construction industry through innovative technologies that can transform the construction landscape and promote sustainable practices.

“The new cost databank is a crucial step towards achieving greater transparency and efficiency, ensuring that Nigeria’s construction sector continues to develop with integrity and excellence.”

Also stating the importance of digitalizing cost databanks as a key factor in the industry’s evolution, Taiwo said adopting the initiative can reduce project costs by 20% and increase efficiency by 30%.

“The productivity-enhancing solution will not only accelerate project timelines and improve cost and quality outcomes but also contribute to the overall profitability of the construction industry. By reducing labor costs, minimizing waste, and optimizing resource utilization, these databank-driven solutions have helped businesses achieve higher profit margins and gain a competitive edge in the market, he stated.

Taiwo said his exceptional achievements in the past have earned him recognition as a member of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors and he is also a registered Quantity Surveyor with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, a federal government body that recognizes outstanding professionals in the field. His membership of this prestigious group solidifies his status as a leading expert in the construction industry.

Rotimi Taiwo’s groundbreaking work emerges as a beacon of hope. His steadfast dedication to incorporating innovative technologies in construction not only marks him as a visionary leader but also sets the stage for a more sustainable and efficient future in the built environment. With experts like Taiwo leading the way, Nigeria is well-positioned to adopt cutting-edge solutions that will revolutionize its construction landscape.
