Alive and Thrive fhi360, a NGO with focus on nutrition working in Bauchi has expressed its readiness to support the state in its efforts to prevent malnutrition among pregnant women and children.
State Focal Person of the organisation Mr Asimobu Chidiebere made the expression at the closing of a 3-day train the trainer on maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition using interpersonal communication skills held at the Pali Suites and Resort in Bauchi.
According to him, the aim of the training was to equip the 45 participants drawn from health facilities across the 6 LGAs of the State who will in turn cascade the train to others who could attend.
Asimobi Chidiebere said that for 3 days, the participants were taken through various presentations that are all focused on how to prevent malnutrition among pregnant women and children particularly those under 5 years.
He said that the NGO is collaborating with the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency through trainings, workshops and conferences during which capacities are built.
On the training for 3 days, he expressed satisfaction with the active participation of the participants saying that it was a demonstration of their understanding of the objectives of the training.
He urged them to go back to their respective facilities and cascade the training so that others who could not attend will have the basic understanding of the issues of nutrition in pregnancy and child growth and development.
Asimobi Chidiebere then commended the Media in the state particularly Journalists reporting health issues generally for always having time to attend the programme of his NGO assuring that the partnership will continue as the project will last in Bauchi state.
