The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated media equipment to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and airport trolleys to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) as part of efforts to strengthen public service delivery and support ongoing recovery in the North-East.
The presentation was held on Thursday at the Commission’s headquarters in Maiduguri and attended by officials of the beneficiary institutions and other stakeholders.
Speaking, the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, said access to credible information and efficient public services remained critical to regional growth, stability and recovery from years of insurgency.
He said the Commission would continue to support institutions whose services directly impacted the lives of citizens across the region.
According to him, investments in key public institutions were necessary to improve service delivery and strengthen ongoing reconstruction and development efforts in the North-East.
“We are committed to strengthening public service delivery in the North-East. The aim is to ensure that citizens get improved services that will enhance growth, development and social stability,” Alkali said.
Receiving the media equipment on behalf of FRCN, the Director-General of the corporation, Muhammad Bula, described the intervention as timely, saying it would enhance the organisation’s capacity to inform, educate and engage the public.
