The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has assured the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Lafia, of support to enable it to meet up with the international standard.
The Chairman, House Committee on Health, Alhaji Labaran Shafa, gave the assurance on Wednesday when the committee paid an oversight visit to the school.
Shafa said that “a healthy nation is a wealthy nation”, hence the need for the assembly to render support in that direction in order to ensure effective healthcare service delivery.

“We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that we develop the school to enable it to meet up with the international standard, considering the importance of health to human and societal development, “he said
He restated the assembly’s continued commitment to enact laws and pass resolutions that would have a direct bearing on the health of the people of the state.
Mr Zari Solomon, the Principal of the school, thanked the committee for the visit and called for the upgrading of the institution to the college of Nursing.
The committee also visited the state Health Insurance Scheme where the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Gaza Gwamna, urged that the new agency be captured in the 2020 budget. (NAN)
