Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State has heard the testimony of a man, Yinka Adegoke, who dragged his wife, Bisi Adegoke to court for divorce on the grounds of stubbornness and infidelity.
According to him, his wife aborted the pregnancy she had for other men twice.
Yinka added that Bisi apart from being diabolic has a caustic tongue and never ceased to abuse him verbally and also rained curses on him.
The plaintiff in his evidence explained that the defendant ruined his life and property as a result of cursing him.
He, therefore, begged the court to put an end to their relationship and grant him custody of their last child.
Bisi did not come to court despite being served court summonses.
Yinka in his testimony explained that, “My lord, I am tired of my union with my wife. She has made life unbearable for me. I, therefore, do not want her again under my roof. I earnestly pray that you separate us.
“Bisi and I started living together as husband and wife after she moved in with me. We did not hold any formal marriage ceremony, neither did I pay her bride price.
“My wife started giving me hell soon after she moved into my house.
“Bisi is both stubborn and rebellious.
“She always refuses to take my advice and will insist on having her way. She rubs shoulder with me in the home and has almost usurp my position as the head.
“Bisi on many occasions flouted my order in the home and would challenge me to do my worst.
“My wife has a caustic tongue which she uses in abusing and cursing me.
“Bisi wrecked my life as she rained curses on me each day.
“We once had a misunderstanding which ended in a brawl.
“She rained curses on me while we fought and I lost two cars and three motorcycles in a tragic manner after this.
“I was given a car to manage for commercial purpose which enhanced our standard of our living as a family.
“I empowered my wife by renting a shop for her and stocking it with goods.
“But our joy was short-lived as Bisi got angry with me one day and swore the vehicle would no longer serve me.
“This vehicle almost became a right off after I had an accident with it. I spent a fortune putting it back on the road.
“Bisi is diabolic and always in possession of charms and other scary objects. The more I complain, the more fetish items she brings into our house.
“My wife also cheats on me. She has strings of lovers and has aborted her lovers’ pregnancy twice.
“My life is not safe living with a promiscuous woman and I am not ready to die now.
“My lord, I plead with this honourable court to dissolve our wedlock and grant me custody of our last child who is a male.”
The court president, Mrs S.M Akintola adjourned the case till July 4.
