MUSLIM faithful in Imo State have been urged to continue abiding by the teachings of the just-concluded 30-day Ramadan fast.
The Sarkin Hausawa and northern community traditional ruler in Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Baba Sulaiman, gave the charge while briefing newsmen in Owerri shortly after the Eid-el-Fitri prayers.
Alhaji Baba Sulaiman expressed joy over the successful completion of Ramadan, but regretted that some Muslim faithful who began the fasting and prayers did not live to see its end, while many others completed it by the grace of Allah.
The Sarkin Hausawa used the opportunity to pray to Allah to accept their acts of worship and forgive their sins.
Auwal called on fellow Muslim faithful not to fall back into old ways, but to remain firm in the spirit of total repentance.
“The most important thing for us is to adhere to the lessons of fasting and prayers and keep to their purpose, rather than going back to our old life and behaviours. If they are found otherwise, it means that the repentance is not from the heart,” he said.

He added that the significance of fasting is to ensure that every Muslim experiences a positive change in character.
Alhaji Baba Sulaiman pointed out that any Muslim who fails to keep the stipulated rules of Ramadan or misbehaves risks divine judgment.
Speaking on the security situation in the country, the Sarkin Hausawa acknowledged that Nigeria continues to face serious security challenges, especially in the Northern region, which have also affected other parts of the country.
He noted that the only panacea to the situation is prayers by Nigerians for divine intervention.
He therefore called on everyone in the state to join hands in prayer to curb insecurity across the land.
