MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has delivered a landmark financial performance for 2025, driven by surging digital services and aggressive network expansion, underscoring the pivotal role of telecommunications in advancing financial inclusion across the country.
The telecom giant reported revenues of N1.11 trillion, reversing last year’s loss, and recorded a staggering 79.7 percent growth in Fintech revenue, reflecting the rapid adoption of mobile money and digital banking services. Active data subscribers increased by 11.6 percent to 53.2 million, while home broadband subscriptions rose by 31 percent to 4.2 million, highlighting a sharp acceleration in digital connectivity.
MTN’s success, CEO Karl Olutokun Toriola, noted stems from robust balance-sheet resilience and targeted investments. The company committed N1.0 trillion in capital expenditure (CAPEX) to expand network infrastructure, particularly in underserved and rural areas, ensuring reliable, secure access to digital financial services. Data revenue alone jumped 74.5 percent, demonstrating that infrastructure investments are directly translating into commercial growth.
“This targeted network deployment enhances service quality, which is non-negotiable for secure digital transactions,” Toriola said, emphasizing the link between profitability and the ability to drive nationwide financial inclusion.

In a strong signal to investors, MTN announced a final dividend of N15 per ordinary share, following an interim dividend of N5 per share earlier in 2025. Shareholders on the company’s register as of April 8, 2026, will qualify, with payments scheduled for May 5, 2026, through the company’s e-dividend platform.
Market analysts hailed the dividend as an indicator of MTN’s improved earnings outlook and a boost to investor confidence in Nigeria’s telecom sector.
MTN remains among the most capitalized firms on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and continues to lead the nation’s drive toward a digitally inclusive economy.
“Quality of experience is our priority,” MTN emphasized, reflecting its ongoing commitment to connect millions of previously unbanked Nigerians to the formal financial system.
