Life Lessons with Eltey: Elebuibon’s daughter’s manual for outstanding success

Published by

United Kingdom-based IT consultant, author and politician Yetunde Elebuibon has begun a podcast on Spotify called ‘Life Lessons with Eltey.’

The daughter of the renowned Ifa priest and Araba of Osogbo, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, started the podcast weeks ago to help people worldwide navigate their way successfully in a foreign country and reach the highest heights possible with minimum mistakes.

“I started Life Lessons with Eltey on Spotify to help people learn from the experience I’ve acquired over the years,” the multi-talented professional explained, disclosing what led her to the platform despite no previous experience.

The councillor representing Wheatley Hills and Intake ward, Doncaster, added, “I get asked a lot about how I managed to navigate my path to success in a foreign country. I came to the U.K. as an international student in 2003, and between then and now, I’ve had successful careers, becoming an entrepreneur, an elected leader, a charity trustee, etc. Instead of repeating the same thing to different people at different times, it is better to put it out there in a form accessible to people worldwide.”

Available on Spotify at https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yetunde48, Yetunde wants the podcast to positively impact people’s lives globally.

“I shared a lot of lessons I’ve learnt and mistakes I’ve made so that people can make better choices and have outstanding outcomes. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback, but I hope to have many more. I am my parents’ firstborn, so I didn’t have the opportunity to learn from an older sibling. This is just a way of me holding the hands of someone, somewhere, be it older or younger. I want to reach people of all colours and tongues. I want it to transcend the shores of my immediate environment, that is, the U.K. Already the analytics have recorded listeners from the U.S., Nigeria, Ireland, Germany and France,” she said.

With five episodes released so far, she is happy with the feedback. And despite having her hands in many pies, she won’t drop the ball on the podcast.

“People have responded positively to all the episodes; some have shared pictures of themselves and spouses picking up tasks they’ve abandoned. Some have professed that their hope for aspired goals has been kindled. Very good so far. Like every other thing I do, the podcast comes under a bucket list of things to do. I love making lists and ranking activities according to priorities. The podcast is the easiest thing I do for now as I write the scripts at my earliest convenience and record at least two episodes per studio session. I then schedule the episodes on my Podcast account to be live on specific dates. I don’t need to do anything extra once they are scheduled.”

Listeners of Radio OYO (now Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State) in the 80s will remember her dad, Chief Elebuibon’s daily dawn poetry session where he admonished people before they set out for the day’s activities. Could this have inspired her?

“My background has nothing to do with the podcast. It was motivated by the desire to help others through my experience, and I believe the way to make the most impact is to choose a medium accessible to people worldwide. My dad has many years of experience in broadcasting and showbiz, and I plan to interview him on the podcast one of these days.”

The goal-getter dreams big for the podcast and readily shares it. “When I started Knowledge Pool, a digital capability support organisation, I wanted to help. But within a few years, it has not just helped but won awards and raised many funds. I see this podcast getting bigger and cutting across the globe, making a massive impact on people’s lives. If I could help someone pick up their dreams and work them out, it’ll be a great satisfaction.”
