Kogi State Government has announced a restriction on vehicular movement from 7 am to 4 pm ahead of Saturday, October 19, 2023, Local Government election in the 21 local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed in a statement he released to journalists in Lokoja on Friday.

According to Fanwo, the measure ensures a smooth election process and safeguards voters and citizens across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.

“The State Government has directed security agencies to enforce this order in the interest of public safety and to ensure violators are held accountable.

“We are confident in the ability of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission to conduct a free, fair, and credible poll. We call on all citizens to exercise their democratic rights peacefully and to uphold the power of the ballot over violence,” Fanwo said.

The government also urged citizens to come out in large numbers to participate in the election and assured voters of adequate security throughout the process.

The commissioner emphasised the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the election.
