Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Moro local government area of Kwara state, under the aegis of the Moro Stakeholders Forum, have appealed to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as well as leadership of the ruling party to uphold fairness, equity, and justice for the local government in the 2027 general electioneering process.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin in on Tuesday, leaders of the group, Hon. Olatunde Pascal Kolawole, Hon. Bello Emmanuel and Hon. Mahmud Afolabi Abdulsalam, said that Moro local government has been marginalized since 1999,”especially, in the ongoing internal arrangements and selection of candidates ahead of 2027 general elections.

The people said that the local government, situated in the Kwara North district of the state, has been deprived of opportunities which other local government areas such as Baruten, Edu, Kaiama and Pategi had enjoyed.

The stakeholders said: “We are addressing this press conference basically to draw the attention of our party stakeholders across the country, particularly in Kwara State, to what clearly amounts to a monumental act of oppression and injustice against our dear people in Moro local government area in the All Progressives Congress.

“As an example, in our own federal constituency of Edu/Moro/Pategi, which has a National Assembly seat in the House of Representatives, for nearly 30 years, Moro has been unable to occupy the seat despite our best efforts, and in spite of the fact that Edu local government area has had 16 years and Pategi 12 years on the seat. Regarding the Senate, it is considered a no-go area for anybody in the Moro local government.

“We call on leaders of conscience in Kwara North, and indeed Kwara State, who ordinarily should sympathise with us to help bring an end to this blot in our political  system.

“Our appeal, therefore, goes to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to help uphold fairness, equity, and justice for Moro. The governor is already a hero to the people of the Kwara North by bringing the governorship to the Kwara North, in keeping with his belief in the principles and values of equity, fairness, and justice.

“Let us state clearly that the work is incomplete without ensuring that the Moro local government is not left out, now that the governorship has  shifted to the North, with Engineer Salihu Yakubu Danladi as the flagbearer. We wish all the candidates of our party all the best in the forthcoming general elections”.
