Dr Adedeji Adeleke, father of popular Nigerian artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused controversial social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo of impersonating the alleged daughter of the singer, Anu, and her mother on social media to fuel paternity allegations against his son (Davido).
Adeleke, who spoke during a press briefing in Lagos, said Olunloyo had persistently alleged that Davido was the biological father of the girl and had used various online platforms to push what he described as a negative narrative against the artiste.
He expressed concern over what he called the impersonation of a minor and questioned the legality of such actions, adding that Olunloyo had targeted his son for years with repeated claims aimed at damaging his public image.
According to Adeleke, he received a message from a relative of the child’s mother, who lives in Abuja, clarifying that neither she, the child’s mother, nor their family operated the social media account making the claims.
He said the family member informed him that the account was being run by Olunloyo, whom they had severed ties with years earlier.
Adeleke said the relative also apologised for any embarrassment the situation may have caused his family.
He said, “Kemi Olunloyo has continually alleged that David is the father of the little girl. I’m not even sure if it’s legal for someone to impersonate a minor. This Kemi Olunloyo has been after my son David for many years. Everything she says about David is always negative and negative, trying to put him in a bad light with the public.
“This I’m about to read to you is what I received from a sister to Anu’s mum that lives in Abuja. I’m not going to mention her name. But she’s in communication with me.
“When this happened she saw the thing that was supposedly written by her niece. And then she sent this to me. It reads, ‘Good afternoon sir, I hope your day is going well. I just saw this on a blog post, I just wanted to clarify that the account is not run by me, Ayo, or my mum. The account is run by Kemi Olunloyo whom we have cut ties with years ago. I don’t know why she keeps posting these things knowing fully well that we are no longer in communication. We have reached out to her several times to stop posting anything about Anu. I’m sorry if this embarrasses your family in anyway.’”
Adeleke also insisted that DNA tests conducted in 2014 had ruled out Davido as the biological father of the girl identified as Anu.
He said he personally initiated the test after receiving a formal complaint from the child’s maternal grandmother, adding that saliva samples were collected from Davido and the child at a hospital in Lekki and sent to South Africa for analysis.
According to him, the test result showed a zero percent probability of paternity, and both the child’s mother and grandmother were present during the process with grandmother co-signed with him to receive the outcome.
He added that the grandmother subsequently accused Davido of bribing hospital staff to tamper with the samples, a claim he dismissed as unfounded.
Tribune Online reports that the ‘Fem’ crooner recently responded to a public request by the child requesting a DNA test and insisted that previous DNA tests had already resolved the matter.
