Pupils in Kano State received a morale boost as the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Malam Yusuf Kabir, rewarded those who arrived early to school with essential learning materials during a working visit to selected schools in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

The visit, which took him to Dawakin Kudu Model Primary School and Yankatsari Central Primary School, formed part of ongoing efforts by SUBEB to promote punctuality, improve attendance, and instill discipline among pupils and teachers in basic education institutions across the state.

Speaking during the exercise, Yusuf Kabir said the initiative was designed not only to motivate pupils who consistently arrive early but also to serve as a practical method of assessing punctuality in schools.

He emphasized that punctuality plays a critical role in effective teaching and learning, especially during early morning hours when key subjects are taught.

He added that encouraging learners to develop the habit of arriving on time would significantly enhance academic performance and overall learning outcomes.

A total of 50 pupils from each of the two schools benefited from the gesture. The items distributed included school bags, pairs of sandals, exercise books, and pencils, aimed at supporting their educational needs.

The SUBEB chairman urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials and called on parents and guardians to support the initiative by ensuring their children get to school on time.

He also commended the commitment of Abba Kabir Yusuf to the development of the education sector, highlighting key interventions such as the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, provision of instructional materials, and prompt payment of teachers’ salaries.

In his remarks, the Education Secretary of Dawakin Kudu LGEA, Hon. Musa Sani, praised the SUBEB chairman for his proactive leadership and innovative strategies aimed at improving the quality of basic education in the area.

Some of the beneficiary pupils, speaking on behalf of others, expressed appreciation for the support and pledged to sustain punctuality while making effective use of the materials provided.
