Is this tuberculosis?

Published by

My 65 -year old uncle has been coughing at night for the past 2 months. Apart from this, he has lost a lot of weight. The Chemist where he was taken for treatment gave him antibiotics for Pneumonia but the problem has persisted. I am afraid if what he has is Tuberculosis. I will appreciate it if you can help me with this problem.

Your Uncle’s medical history of chronic cough and weight loss are strong pointers to Tuberculosis of the Chest. It will therefore be of utmost importance for him to seek an urgent medical attention at the nearest hospital to him. In addition, because of the high infectious rate of Tuberculosis, all members of your family who have been exposed to your Uncle should also go for tests to determine those of them who could also be infected.
