Insecurity: Group organises special prayer in Zamfara

Following rising insecurity, a group of Zamfara concern citizens for peace, security and stability have organised a special prayer under the umbrella of the Dauda Lawal coalition organisation in the state.

 

The special prayer, organised on Thursday at the Gusau Central prayer ground, was witnessed by pupils of both primary and secondary schools in the state.

 

It was organised to seek God’s intervention in the rising insecurity that bedevilled the entire Zamfara, north and the country at large.

 

Speaking at the prayer session, the chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Nasir Anka, disclosed that over 100 Islamic scholars and thousands of students were in attendance to seek Allah’s Guidance on banditry activities across the state.

 

Professor Anka stressed that the security issue is a collective responsibility in which all hands must be on deck, “we need to pray and seek peace from Allah, which is paramount”. He said.

 

According to him, there is a need for citizens to embark on prayer at all times, “insecurity is a source of our concern, we pray that our lost glory of peace and stability in the state return”.

 

Earlier on, the secretary of the coalition, Alhaji Nasiru Garba, emphasised that citizens need to continue praying for peace to reign in the state.

 

He appealed to the State government through the Ministry of Education to intensity prayer in every school across the state.

 

During the prayer session, Dr Atiku Balarabe Zawiyya, Mallam Abdulhakeem, Mallam Bello Almufty and other Islamic scholars offered special prayers to end banditry, kidnapping and safe return of those kidnapped in the state.
