The Zamfara state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, has assured not to disappoint the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) while discharging her duties in the state.
Speaking today shortly after receiving an award from NMA Zamfara state branch, Dr Nafisa maintained that she and her colleague, Dr Aisha M.Z Anka, the Commissioner for Health, will represent NMA effectively, diligently and prudently as members of Governor Dauda Lawal State Executive Council.
“Our nomination by Governor Dr Dauda Lawal to serve in these critical positions, as members of NMA, will work to the best of our ability to bring positive development in the state”.
Dr Nafisa expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to her and pledged commitment to fulfil responsibility diligently.
“We reassured the State Governor that I, Dr Nafisa Mohammed and Dr Aisha M Z Anka, commissioners Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and Ministry of Health, respectively, would work harmoniously to bring positive changes and development in the state”.
Earlier on, the information officer Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Zamfara State Suleiman Isah, revealed that It is worth noting that this was the first time two female medical Doctors were appointed as members of the State Executive Council responsible for overseeing two critical Ministries of Health and Women Affairs and Social Development”.
In his remarks, the chief medical director of Federal Medical Centre Gusau, Dr Bello Mohammed, expressed his confidence in the appointment of two female medical Doctors and said they have the capacity, talents and ability to serve in the state.
He believed that Governor Dauda made the right choice in selecting them and anticipated positive transformations in the ministries they oversee.
He urged all members of the Medical Association (NMA)serving in the state to give them encouragement for effective delivery.
He further advised the two female Doctors who were the Executive Council members to seek assistance from NMA members where necessary.
The MD FMC used the opportunity and appealed to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to extend their social welfare and social responsibility programs to the victims of bandit attacks, revealing that FMC Gusau frequently receives casualties resulting from banditry activities.
