I want to make a mark with my sound, conquer music world —Shaddy Racks

Published by

Music artiste, Shadrach Okoro, otherwise known as Shaddy Racks, has continued to show that he has what it takes to make his music relevant for a long time. With the year starting on a strong footing for the singer, he speaks with SEGUN ADEBAYO about his plans to take over the music industry.

What exactly put you on the music track?

I started singing in primary school and made everyone dance and as I got older, I realised if I can make my friends dance, then I can make the world dance to my sound.

You play the drums as well, how is that not affecting your commitment to music?

Yes, I play drums but it is just one of the instruments I play well and it doesn’t affect my music at all. I make my music at the right time and I play drums when I want to.

When you started music, what did you hope to achieve with it?

I hope to have become one of the top five biggest artistes in Africa.

Why do you think you have what it takes to be a successful music act?

I believe I’m the only one with my voice and you can’t hear it anywhere else; it’s a sign that I’m different from other artistes out there.

Why are you so passionate about music?

Music is so spiritual it can make a sad person smile and also the wrong kind of music can make someone sad too.

What do you like most about being a musician?

One of the things I like is about being able to lend my voice and emotions through my music

Can you tell us about your favourite instrument and how do you make sure you play it well?

I’m still learning a lot because I believe no one is perfect. I love all  I don’t dislike any

Apart from music, what other things do you do?

I really like to play football and I can say that I’m really good at that too.
