Governor Seyi Makinde has urged members of his political camp in Oyo to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections, cautioning that internal disputes could threaten the achievements of his administration.
The governor made the call on Friday night during a dinner attended by political allies, government officials, and party stakeholders. Discussions at the gathering focused on preserving the administration’s accomplishments and strengthening party unity ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Speaking at the event, Makinde warned against allowing political ambitions to create division within the camp, noting that public offices are limited and should not become a source of conflict.

“There must not be any division. We must watch out for one another so that the people of Oyo State can reap the benefits of this team,” he said.
Makinde stressed the importance of placing collective interest above personal ambition, maintaining that cooperation and unity are essential for sustaining stability within the party and ensuring continued development across the state.
The governor also thanked the people of Oyo State for entrusting his administration with leadership, describing public service as a privilege rather than an entitlement.
“We must be thankful to God, and we must be grateful to the people of Oyo State for giving us the opportunity to serve them,” Makinde stated.
Reflecting on his political journey, the governor disclosed that his initial ambition was to become a senator before circumstances eventually led him to contest for the governorship.
According to him, events moved rapidly after he secured his party’s governorship ticket in September 2018, culminating in his emergence as governor-elect within five months.
Makinde said the experience demonstrated how quickly political fortunes can change, urging his loyalists to remain patient, disciplined, and supportive of one another instead of engaging in unhealthy rivalry ahead of 2027.
“This team must continue the good work for the benefit of the people of Oyo State,” he added.
Among those present at the dinner were Bayo Lawal, Debo Ogundoyin, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Adedeji Stanley Olajide, and Olufemi Ajadi, alongside other stakeholders.
