Nigerian singer Niniola Apata, popularly known simply as Niniola, has expressed deep grief over the death of her husband, Michael Ndika, saying God should have taken her life instead of his.

The singer made the emotional remarks in a series of posts shared on her Instagram Story, where she lamented the loss of her husband and accused God of choosing not to spare his life despite having the power to do so.

Tribune Online reports that Niniola recently announced Ndika’s death.

In her latest posts, the singer shared photographs from their court wedding in the United States and opened up about the pain she has continued to endure since his passing.

Niniola said losing her husband had left a void in her life, adding that she would rather have suffered a serious physical loss or even died herself than lose the man she described as the person who gave her life meaning.

She also reflected on the life they shared together, saying they lived peacefully and kept to themselves. The singer expressed anger over his death and questioned why fate took him away despite their quiet existence.

“I cannot live without Michael. God, you could’ve taken my kidney, an arm or a leg. You should’ve even taken me instead, but that one person that made my life worth it, you took away from me,” she wrote.

“We did not disturb anybody, just living lives on our own terms. What a jealous God you truly are because you had the power to spare him but decided to flex muscles. Kukumo, finish what you started na, I’m ready.”
