Ahead of the May 29 inauguration of president-elect, Bola Tinubu, intense lobbying seems to have begun within different camps of the entertainers who supported his presidential ambition.
Information gathered by R revealed that leaders of each group in the entertainment in the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are said to have initiated moves and started reaching out to some topshots within APC in Lagos State and the national level that would ensure they are considered favourable for juicy positions in Tinubu’s government.
R reliably gathered that notable English and Yoruba speaking actors who worked for the victory of the president-elect are being considered to lead the creative industry, which will be created by the incoming government just as the Motion Picture Council of Nigeria (MOPICON) Bill which will create proper regulatory environment for the sub-sector of the creative industry is being talked about.
It was learnt that a top member of the APC-PCC from Kogi State is the rallying factor as a number of the actors have been visiting him since the president-elect was declared winner in February. Information pieced together revealed that some popular names on the list have been grouping to present a common name in order not to lose out of any deal.
One of the members who spoke with R but didn’t want his name mentioned said intense lobbying is normal when people need something from somebody who could get it for them.
He noted that some of his colleagues who belong to another group but worked for Tinubu’s victory have been speaking with the topshots in the APC to get them on their side, adding that those who say lobbying has begun are right but nothing is assured yet.
“Some of us have been hearing that our colleagues are moving around to secure their place in Tinubu’s government. No one can deny it. I know some of them have been visiting the house of a top member of the APC PCC but I am confident that we will get what we deserve because we worked really hard for the incoming government,” he stated.
